6 years ago today Mick Bayzand battled with a beast of a rail but Mick is no stranger to this scenario and he came out on top.
Hey Guys, Quick post to let you no whats been going on with me.
Well a few days ago I had a pretty bad fall, I fell backwards off a ledge and smashed my head into a pole and split the back of my head open pretty badly. When I got to hospital the doctors thought I fractured my spine and it was all down hill from there.
It was a pretty scary night as they strapped my head to a bed so I couldn’t move and ran a bunch of scans.
Thank god they all turned out clear, it’s never nice to be told you may never ride your bike again (for the second time actually).
So after all that it just came down to fixing the rather large split in my head which is nothing a small hand full of staples wont fix hahaha.
So be carefull out there kids and I would recommend you were your helmets.
Mick Bayzand has some really good footage throughout this DIY video that a bunch of Melbourne guys were apart of. Check it out…

Back in May Mick and I started working on a new video project with the idea of shooting an entire trails video part as Mick was heavily into riding trails for many years so we thought it would be a good change up. Ever since that idea came about we’ve been digging in the rain, hail, sun and everything else in-between. It’s definitely something that has escalated into more then just creating a spot to film a good chunk of the video at, it’s become part of us both and something that I don’t think either of us see changing anytime soon. Here are a few shots from recent sessions.
Shouotout to the OG locals and also Grosser for helping with the build.
Mick recently headed down to the brand new Noble Park in Melbourne with a couple of his boys Kym and Sean from Strictly BMX. The guys put together this video from the session, i definitely recommend hitting up the park if you are ever in Melbourne.
Hey Guys,
Over here in Melbourne we have been lucky enough to have some new parks pop up of late. Last weekend myself and the boys went and hit the new Noble Park skate park, it’s a pretty epic park with something for everyone from big bowls to really fun jib rails. we filmed a little mixtape there which I have a few clips in so be on the look out for that. I also have some clips in another mixtape that’s about to drop soon.
Also with daylight savings on its way and summer coming I am working on another solo web edit and also a special project with Cooper Brownlee I am real pumped on.
So dont be lazy, get out there on your bike. have fun, keep learning and get creative.
Peace..
For the past couple months Mick and I have been heading down to the trails and helping out with the locals on some re-building of particular lines. Up until last week we hadn’t really rode them at all so it was great to get a session in and start filming for an up and coming project we are working on, Mick has already got some good stuff so we wanted to share one of the shots we captured last week.
Shoutout to the DCT locals for welcoming us into their home.
The guys at Focalpoint recently uploaded the full length DVD they released back in 2011. It heavily features Marnold, Cooper, Jack and Mick. Check out the while video below.
Yo yo !!
Mick has had a couple of rough years with injuries. But in-between those injuries he’s come through with some great footage for this video.
The Package series from Focalpoint is back and Cooper just released the first mixtape which also features clips of Jack, Luke, Marnold and Mick. Check it out and be on the lookout for more videos in the future.
Yo yo !!
Hey Guys, I am currently going through all my clips I have filmed from some past trips and in between injury’s to put out soon. Also I am in the works of filming some new stuff witch is all going well.
I also recently went on a road trip with my girlfriend down the Great Ocean road to Adelaide which was a lot of fun. As always I’ve been riding the local (Prahran) a lot getting my jib game on so if your in the area come have a roll. Be on the look out for some web edits insta vids and pics soon.
Till then keep shredding.
With Bayzand back from injury he sent through some photos of his current ride which is a 2015 Burna, Guardian Forks, Official Stem, Burna Bars, Fantastic Plastics, CC Sprocket, Pintour/Pinnacle wheels, Alex Hiam Combo Seat and 22’s Cranks.

Hey Guys,
So happy to say that I’m back on my bike after what felt like a life time off with a broken hand. it’s still not one hunderd percent but I’Ve been having the best time riding again so that’s all that matters right now. I have filmed a few insta vids at the local that will be up on the Colony insts and my own instagram (mick_bayzand1) soon I am also back working on a edit I started before my injury. If you se me around on the bike come say hi.
Peace.
Hey Guys,
I just built up my new Colony Burna frame which I can’t thank Clint and Colony enough for it. It’s such a honour to have my name on something I love and care so much about and for so many years now. I would allso like to thank everyone who has supported me or bought one of my signature parts.
I am still off my bike at the moment with my hand injury but it has been nice just rolling around again witch is a step in the right direction. I’ve been doing lots of physio and stuff to get my hand back on track so I can come back in the new year killing it again.

I haven’t been able to ride lately because of my hand so I have been painting a lot more witch is a another hobbie/passion of mine.
Last week I was lucky enough to be asked to be part of a art show in Melbourne. I got to paint the out side wall along with three other people. a spot I have wanted to paint for a long time. It was a great night and lots of people turned up, we got plenty of good feed back on our art so it was a success.
Hey guys, quick update to let you no whats going on with me. As you might know I broke my hand filming a few weeks ago and yesterday I had a meeting with a plastic surgen to see how things are going. Turns out the break in my hand is quite severe in the lower part of my ring finger and the bone has droped and twisted. They wanted me to have surgery and put two screws and a plate in there but because I did it a wile ago the bone has started healing so they’re just gonna leave it for now and hope it doesn’t move anymore or I will go under the knife. So I need to be real carefull the next few weeks and wear a stupid cast. HopefulLy it all heals up nice and I’ll be back on the bike in no time filming again.
This weekend Cooper Jack and myself packed up the van and headed out on a little road trip to finish up some web videos. Everything was going well until we found this beautiful steep rail I just couldent pass up, unfortunately there was a fence right at the bottom exactly were you would land. Me being me I just thought; dont worry just pretend it’s not there and I will deal with it when I get there. but it was there and I grinded straight into it at full speed. I got straight back up and got the clip then the pain set in and turns out I broke my hand and rolled my ankle so it looks like I am going to be off the bike for a little bit.

Hey Guys,
My wrist has definitely been on the mend lately, well for someone like myself that has had so many injury’s nothing really gets better it just gets bearable so I have been riding my local park Prahran alot lately stregthaning my wrist and getting my jibb game back on, it’s been a lot of fun. I have all so been filming a few insta vids down there as well if you would like to see them just follow me… @mick_bayzand1
Thanks to Kym Grosser for the photo.
I knew of a few drain spots that already existed here in Melbourne so I spent some time fixing up a few along with creating some new spots and then invited some of the guys to come down, stay at my place and ride the spots for 3 days. We had to do this during the middle of summer so that we didn’t get washed away and to be able to build at the spots. This all worked well besides the temperatures going above 40 every day we were out but everyone made it work and had a blast doing so. Here is the video (and photos) from the project, hopefully we get to do another one next summer.
A good chunk of the team have some really good footage in the mix section of Stu Munro’s DVD. You can see more sections right here…
