Core Series final…

The Core Series final was on Sunday & was a good day for sure. A good turn out & the riding level was really high with a few first’s done at the park. Decade airs, flip whips, front flips, smith to whips were a few stand outs from the day. So good to watch. Our own Peta Shepherd did well enough to get 7th on the day & 5th overall for the year in expert. Well done Peta !! Alex Hiam also rode well yesterday & took out 3rd place in the pro class. Thanks to Ange for the pics.

Jonny Devine update…

Jonny Devine spent the last month here in Brisbane & enjoyed every single minute of it. He just arrived back into the UK & is already making plans to get back here ASAP. This photo (Jonny is on the right) here was taken minutes before they all decided to ride down Mt. Cootha here doing 80 kmh in the dark !! Crazy. Even though I didn’t get to hang out with Jonny much while he was here, I can say that he fits into the Colony family very well. It’s good to have you aboard mate.

Matt King update…

Matt King sent in some pics of his new ride along with a riding photo. He has been keeping very busy as a father in recent months but still getting out on the bike as much as possible. Matt has been repping Colony for as long as I can remember with the strong support of the Gold Coast’s premiere BMX shop, Helensvale BMX.

20 mins with Broc Raiford…

Spotted this cool little edit of our boy in the USA, Broc Raiford. It was filmed at Woodward East on the new street plaza set up there in 20 mins. Some good stuff in there for sure. Enjoy.

Pete Radivo warehouse session…

Last week we went out and filmed this edit with Pete Radivo at a private indoor spot that he is fortunate enough to have access to. I was impressed at how easy Pete got this done and he seemed to be really enjoying riding, which is great to see from a guy who has had more knee surgeries then I could probably count on both hands.

Ed note: That was awesome Pete… F-ing stoked !! – Millar.

More Valvo…

Valvo sent us some more photos which are from a trip he took to NewYork for 10 days riding a bunch of parks and spots. Thanks to Dreambmx for the photos.

Leaving Woodward now…

It’s been an amazing few days here & we are all pretty much ridden out now. I haven’t felt this sore from riding in a while… all good though for sure. Today we are leaving Woodward to go back to Ryan’s place in Greenville for a few days before returning home. I would like to once again thank everyone at Woodward for letting us stay & ride, it’s been an amazing time. Here are a few random photos from the last few days – Alex on the go-karts, Ryan & Broc on the new dirt jumps.

At Woodward now…

Alex, Ryan & myself arrived at Woodward yesterday. We meet up with Broc Raiford here as well & rode all day. It was amazing. I haven’t been here since 1998 & the place has changed so much since then. So much stuff to ride that I don’t think we will even get to ride it all during our 4 day stay. Thanks to the friendly staff at Woodward for hooking us up, appreciated.

Trip Round up #2

Some more photos from our trip across France and Barcelona, thanks again to Unleaded for helping us out across France.

First up we have Mick Bayzand hanging a rail in France, then we have Liam Fahy-Hampton, Mick Bayzand and Bruno Faucon chilling before the comp down in Aurillac and last but not least this was a spot in Marseille that the locals took us to and a school group were stoked on BMX, they had Marnold doing stunts for them.

Lyon, France = wet weather

Since it rained all day here yesterday in Lyon France, we went and rode the indoor park in the evening, everyone seemed to have a good time. This sequence is of Le Goff Guillaume getting his ledge jib on. It may take a little while to load so be patient or perhaps it’s just the slow internet here?

Today we head down to the south of France again hoping for good weather. It’s our second last day here in France before returning home, so would be nice to get a good solid street ride in before the long flight home.

In other news, Mick Bayzand is now the official jib king… or so he claims?

Crazy Bowl.

Yesterday we were treated to some what of a private session at the indoor bowl here in Aurillac, France. This thing was super smooth and was a pleasure to ride, even for the more street rider types it was still awesome to hit the vert wall with some speed. Thanks to all the locals who made it possible for us to ride and sorry that we were late!

The photo below is of Marnold who felt right at home in this bowl. Today we continue the journey across France!

France Update.

Today was the local comp in Aurillac , it was actually a blast to hang out at. It had a good vibe the whole time and everyone got right into it when the riders were having there runs, at the end of the day the group of Mick Bayzand, Bruno Faucon and Le Goff Guillaume came up on top. The funniest thing about it was that Mick won a cured leg of ham and some local goats cheese. That would have to be the strangest prize ever won at a comp and also the funniest!

Paddy Gross in India.

Paddy sent us over a story about a recent trip he did with some crew to India for some Demo’s, well worth the read…

10 days ago I got asked to fly over to India to ride demo’s with my mates Sergej Deier & Daniel Dressen. India??? I haven’t even heard anything of BMX coming out of India so heck yeah I thought, I am going.

Well where to start? Because you wouldn’t even believe what life is like over there. Let’s say it’s a mix of religion, poorness, happiness, history and far away from our world as we know it. It seriously takes its time to get use to things like that there’re almost no traffic lights and the streets are packed with people, cars, animals, motorcycles, trucks and bikes. Everyone is going where they want and they show their presence by honking their horn but for some reason, it all works out.

We rode demo’s in different citys like Udaipur or Gnarghar. We spent lots of time in planes and cars to go from one city to another and it’s kinda normal that you’ll need around 12 hours of driving for 400km because the roads are just wrecked, full of holes and half finished construction, a pain in the a… to be honest. The people just don’t care, even when the streets are flooded with water everytime it started raining because there’s nothing like a sewerage in small citys where we’ve been. Big citys like New Delhi seem kinda modern but at the end there’s no difference. I’ve seen way too much suffering, sickness and things I don’t understand like their religion and castes system. Lots people get treated like their life is worthless and others seem like gods for them just because of money.

I think we had the chance to make a lot of people and kids happy for one day because of riding our bikes for them. At the places we’ve been a bicycle had the meaning of not having enough money to own a car and having a lower value in their society. I remember having a street session with Sergej at a curb-hip construction and after 10 minutes the place was so crowded that the police had to stop our action because we just caused a traffic jam. So the demo’s were absolutely amazing for them and for us as well because the people thought we’re from a different planet and we felt that the more we ride, the more we’re creating us a place in their hearts, and we did! The ramp set up hasn’t been what we’re used to but we’ve done our best and had a lot of fun doing it.

Well I can’t explain in words about my experience in just a couple days and my mind is over flowing with things, people and life I’ve witnessed. I already have been to lots of different places in the world because of that little kids bike but no other place expanded my horizon as much and made me apreciate the life i have even more as India did!

Know the team – Peta Shepherd.

In the grand scheme of things there really aren’t that many girls who ride bmx but Peta does and does it quite well. Continue below to learn a bit more about her…

What are you up to today?

I just finished work… Chilling out for a bit and then going for a ride somewhere.

Tell us something about yourself people probably don’t know…

I have a twin brother. He doesn’t ride and we don’t look a thing alike. haha

Any plans to travel any time soon?

Hopefully yes. I wanna hit up the states in September/Octoberish.

If someone asked you why they should come visit Brisbane, what would you say?

Non rider: Beaches and theme parks. Rider: All the cool people to ride with and the good parks, plus the weather.

How many other girl riders are there in Australia do you think?

Umm.. not to sure in Australia, though I know there is a hand full in Brisbane and more keep popping up. Which is awesome to see.

Out of the hundreds of parks there are in Queensland what is your favorite to ride and why?

I love some many. But I think Kuraby, it just has fun quarters and banks, and even some little ledges

New team pages…

Everyone worked hard to get some new photos for their team pages along with new Q&A’s. I am stoked on how they came up! Check them here, have a read to learn a bit more about the team. Extra thanks go out to the photographers from around the world that helped out with team riders photos. The photo below is of Liam Fahy-Hampton from a fairly recent trip from Brisbane down to Melbourne, it’s amazing what you will find in small towns.

Attila Godi Edit…

Our flow rider from Hungary Attila Godi sent over this recent edit. The park it is filmed at looks pretty interesting it’s almost like it’s someones backyard, random tent midway through the section in the background aswell, either way some cool stuff in this.

Welcome Jens Kahlström.

We have a new flow rider by the name of Jens kahlström who is from Stockholm, Sweden. It’s always rad seeing riders from other sides of the world, even better to be able to help them out with some parts aswell. click here to check out an edit that Jens features in (black bike) which has some rad moves in it.
