Ryan Guettler opted out to come back to Australia this summer like he usually does. Read on below as to what he has been up too of late…

I just wanted to send every one a monthly web update and let every one know I haven’t fallen off earth yet and why im in the cold America and not in sunny summer Australia right now. Main reason is because I want to take advantage of all the spots around me and ride as hard as I can. I really want 2013 to be the best year yet.

So far I’m on the right track I did a road trip to Phoenix in my RV if you didn’t get to see it check the video..

I’m happy to announce that we are doing a web series based around the RV and the next trip leaves this Thursday to San Francisco. I really pumped on this web series I’ll be doing 6 road trips with different riders kinda like road fools which was a video I loved to watch as a kid. The best thing about the trips is it brings out my best riding and doing 6 stops before the comp session starts is only going to push me in the best way possible.

Also just finished a Vans shoes web edit, which should drop soon. Pumped on the edit I want to show the trails ive been digging and riding most days. There near my house and in the edit I want to show what I get up to there most days.

Another hot day out in Canberra but we still had a pretty productive day but security guarda are a bit more clued on these days up here. Zac scored a hammer at this spot, here is the leftover shot.

Liam shot through an update and Rubers shot some dope photos from a Sunday arvo ride out clipping and turtle hunting. Zingbergs will be in Brisbane next week hanging with the Afray crew so if you see him out say wassup!

We dropped this late last week with the news of Jourdan on the pro team now, worth another watch for a Monday I think.

Good friend Dave Rubinich has been coming through with the goods lately sending over some dope photos from Adelaide. This sequence of Liam doing a crankarm to ice 180 is no exception!

I thought it would be good to get all the guys from our Woodward West adventure to give everyone a few good memories from the trip. It seems the guys had the same feeling I had which was that everyone instantly gelled together like we had known everyone for years. – Bloody Chris Courtenay doing his hangfive to foot jam drop in, to me it was so crazy, so high and so smooth.

– Driving there in the RV and getting two flats in one day, spending the night in a random small town and riding there local park and going to the movies by myself. Got everything fixed the next day and driving to camp to meet up with everyone. Random 24 hours haha.

Peta Shepherd

– Me trying for hours to land a new trick, 270 footjam tail whip, and one of the awesome campers Kaden Weaver staying there the whole time watching me land it. He was even cool enough to bring me a bottle of water.

Seeing Alex win everyone’s money at dice. Haha.

Clint Millar

– Getting to meet for the first time, some of the new guys on the team – Jourdan Barba, Bobbie Altiser & Brandon Van Dulken. All of which are freaking awesome guys. They fit in with everyone else so well. Stoked.

– Woodward is an awesome place to hang there with all the campers and just ride everyday was perfect. Pitty I injured my hand only a few days into it but good times none the less. Thanks to all my team riders, all the campers & Woodward staff for making this such a good trip.

Paddy Gross

– Ryan being so patient and relaxed after all of the tires on his RV gave up one after another. I was really impressed that he kept smiling and made the best out of it.

– Meeting Bobbie, Jourdan and Brandon was awesome and seeing Bobbie pulling a quad nosepick tailwhip was one moment where I couldn’t find the right “yeah” to justify what I’d witnessed.

– One of the campers (who also lives in Portland) came up and said “you guys don’t act like pros, you act like friends” was a huge compliment and it made me appreciate my teammates even more and it remembered me when I first met the everyone on the team in 2011 for the tour. Everyone felt like being friends for years.

Jourdan Barba

– My best memories from Woodward would be how stoked the kids were to ride with us, it was awesome shredding and teaching them new grinds to try! Also how much of a lady’s man lil Alex is, he probably got 10 kisses on the cheek without trying haha.

Bobbie Altiser

– Bonding with all of you and feeling so welcome. Also, the campers were great. Can’t forget learning about sneaky finger and Australian cee-lo!!

Alex Hiam

– My best memories were playing this game with Ryan when we see a stranger we don’t know we pretend we know them and call out “Kevin” Or “crazy Kev from AFL” until they look and try and convince them that we knew them.

It was also amazing to chill with the team again, always a pleasure to hang with Ryan, Stretto, Millar, Coops, Paddy and everyone that I don’t usually get to see!! It was also rad to meet three new amazing friends and additions to the Colony family, Bobbie, Jourdan and Brandon.

Chris Courtenay

– Straight up when bobbie just comes hammering down the hanger and sends a flair out of nowhere! From doing a quad whiplash (nosepick whatever Clint calls them) haha but he just proved himself more of a legend than he already was!

– The kid who told all the girls he was Alex’s best mate to pick up girls! Hahaha gold.

Brandon Van Dulken

– It was awesome meeting and getting to know everybody! Great vibes with great people. Can’t ask for much more.

Tom Stretton

– My best memories would have to be just meeting the new guys on the team. Jourdan, Bobbie and Brandon. They are all ridiculously good on the bike and even better people off it. Was almost as though you had known them for years.

– Also watching Bobbie just huck flairs after only just trying them into the pit a couple of times one night. Dude is a maniac haha. Was awesome!

All round nice guy Ryan Knight recently started working at  Little Black Bike  in Adelaide and set up a fresh new Living frame and already seems right at home. If you’re ever in Adelaide make sure you check out LBB, those guys know whats up! Thanks to Dave Rubinich for the dialed shots.

Glen McLaughlin our warehouse manager, has been away for 5 weeks now with another week to go on a mammoth trip around the states with the infamous Mark Schneider. Here is a little update on their travels…

My trips been going so good, seen so much cool stuff and ridden some amazing spots. We were going through Iowa yesterday and found this gas station called Colony Point. Had to get a photo of it. I attached a couple other pics too. One was from Ray’s MTB park in Cleveland. Place was crazy, anything from fun MTB trails to rhythm box jumps to bowls to weird quarters so big I even got lost on one trail took me a few minutes to find my way back to the front ha ha. On our way to Vegas now for the weekend then grand canyon then back to LA and home sweet home! Talk soon, Glenny.

Our warehouse manager Glen McLaughlin & the infamous Wolfman are over in the USA on a 6 week trip. First port of call was Ryan Guettler’s house & then straight to Woodward West for 2 days of riding. Here are a few pics from their adventures so far. More to come no doubt.

Brock Olive has been riding for Colony for a couple of years now and I have had the pleasure of hanging out, riding, filming and going on trips with him over those years. Watching him progress into the unbelievable rider he is today has been awesome. I am sad to see him go but Brock made his decision and I can live with that. We are family even without your name on the team page bro… Cooper Brownlee.

Even though you have decided to move on, as Cooper said above, all is good & I wish you all the best in what ever comes your way ahead in life. Thanks for everything mate. This below is Brock’s good bye edit as such & we thank him for all the good times we’ve had… Clint Millar.

So I’m back in AUS after a month in America, it was a really good holiday spending a week with Guettler who was an amazing host, such cruisy dude it was awesome hanging out. Rollin’ around Huntington Beach, going surfing, lazing back Cali style. Meet up with my missus and moved on to Vegas for a week. Vegas is one of those places you don’t really wanna be there any longer then 3 or 4 days. You end up, I end up losing to much money haha. Went to Nora cup though which is just an awesome night. We went skydiving over the Nevada desert which was sickkkk! Couldn’t get drunk the whole time I was there, I swear the alcohol is watered down over there hey!

We moved onto New York which was just a sight to see, I recommend anyone to see New York, It’s crazy to think you’ll never see the same thing twice or the same person twice. You could pretty much have a different alias every 10 minutes. I hung out with Nick Gascoine a really close friend and former photographer of 2020. We rode all over Manhattan which is one of the best experiences of my life, highly recommend it! Ended the trip with a grueling 25 hr flight back to AUS.

Over all the trip was alright, I met a heap of good people, seen a heap of sights but alcohol is piss weak America! To be honest I’m glad to be back in AUS. Ain’t nothing like home.

As we’ve mentioned before Ryan was recently in Brazil and whilst he was there he hit up the Jump Festival competition which we co-sponsored along with a shop called BMX20. It really does look like they have an awesome and tight scene over there.

I was out cruising on Sunday & decided to take a drive out to Beaudesert. I hadn’t been there in a good 20 years since when the old bowl was first built. I had heard about an extension being built a few years ago & wanted to check it out. I rocked up & there were a good amount of locals riding & all pretty much on a Colony of some sort, stoked. I didn’t have my bike with me but will have to go back out again soon, as the park looked real fun. Thanks to the locals there for being so cool, it was good to meet you all.
