Ryan Guettler recently was in Australia but before that he was keeping busy over in the USA. Read on below on what he has been up too…

April has been a big month I went on a Pro-tec road trip with the team to shoot photos for the catalogue and make a web edit. It was an amazing time! We drove from the Vans HQ to Phoenix rode a lot of parks and trails so it should get a good web edit out of it. As a team we had talked about doing the Phoenix BMX race after we were doing with the Pro-tec stuff so we stayed around and I tell you what it was crazy. I’ll be doing more races this year for sure so much fun. In Saturday’s race I got a 3rd place and on Sunday’s I got a 2nd.

Crux Division is a support program by the good guys at Sidewall Distribution in the USA. Through this program they support various riders including Sabastian Smith. Check out his Miner frame decked with Colony parts here now.

We have spent the last few days here in Bathurst for Newtons Nation & it’s been a fun time. Sunday morning we went for an early 8am ride at the nearby Orange skatepark. Kenny Raggett came out with us which was a treat. Always good to see & hang with Kenny. We even got some footage of him as well. Look out for a web video from our travels here in the weeks ahead.

Anton McGuirk is slowly on the mend after his crash in Estonia 4 weeks ago. Wont be too much longer till he is back on the bike. He says he wants to waste no time in getting to filming for is welcome to Colony edit. Watch this space.

Anton McGuirk had a bad crash in Estonia at Simple Session & has been off the bike since. He will be off the bike for another 6-8 weeks at least yet but is healing up well. Back injuries are always very scary. Just glad he is gonna be all OK. He will be back on the bike soon enough though.

He recently got a cool feature in the new issue of Ride UK & the guys at Tabletop Distribution did a news piece on it on their site. Get yourself a copy of the magazine which is out now.

I’ve just started my new job, that’s going pretty good. I also judged comps at Murray Bridge and at Elizabeth last weekend which was fun. Apart from that, I’ve just been riding and hanging at Little Black Bike.

How cool is this? The guys at Backbone BMX did an online easter egg hunt, where you had to find easter eggs hidden in amongst their product photos on their website. The lucky winner was not sure what they would win for doing so but hey presto! Brain Nguyen is now the very proud owner of a limited edition 2012 Colony Miner Frame, Fork & Stem kit. Liam Zingbergs has been killing it for quite some time now & as such proved himself as a worthy pro team candidate.

As of today, Liam is now a firm part of the pro team & we could not be more stoked. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would’ve seen his edit from last week. Even so, check it out again.

It seems ever since Ryan moved to Cali he has being smashing out all sorts of good stuff like this edit and it seems he isn’t slowing down anytime soon, here is a bit of an update…

“This past weekend was the Las vegas Xtreme Thing 2012 dirt comp. Practice was really amazing and the jumps were massive but come the comp day the wind kicked in and no one could get through the jumps so we had a best trick comp on the last jump. We started on the berm and peddled to the last set. It was just like it sounds pretty lame but at least we made something happen. I got a superman flip and a 720, just playing it safe in the wind but I had a good time.

Good mate Jaie Toohey has also moved in so we’re riding alot of dirt everyday, I’ve been showing him some of my spots in Cali and I even got a dirt bike to play on the track which has been really fun, it’s just good to take a day off doing BMX and enjoy something else fast. We have been going to Woodward alot because it’s one of the funnest places on earth that I’ve been to and I am working on a few new stunts for this years comps so I’m keen to show everyone soon.”

We have recently put on a team rider in the UK in the way of Anton McGuirk. He joins our team repping for us in the UK & we all could not be more stoked. After seeing Anton’s recent Power Hour on Vital, it was obvious he had skills & after a few emails back & forth, the deal was set. Stoked. Welcome to the team Anton !! Paul Jaques, Pete Jaques, Rhys Yeomans, Cooper Brownlee & his better half Sarah, have launched a new site last week called Modica. It’s a lifestyle and culture blog where they post up on anything they are into, it’s aimed towards Australian content but they will post all sorts of stuff from around the world, along with a bunch of original content. A couple weeks ago we announced we would soon have some new team members.

Well, the first new addition is Riverside local, Jourdan Barba. After seeing Jourdan’s recent video over on Vital BMX, I was suitably impressed. So we tracked him down & after a few emails a deal was set. Jourdan was to be our newest team rider for the USA. He is working on a welcome edit as we speak & we will have a full bike check here in a few days. It’s great to have him aboard Colony & we look forward to working together over the years to come.

Brock spent four days in Melbourne over the weekend filming with me for an upcoming web video. Besides a bit of rain everything worked out and Brock destroyed a few spots. The switch ice he is doing in the photo is on a pretty famous rail in Melbourne and it was crazy having all the kids from the school next to it chanting at Brock whilst we filmed. Here are some words from the man himself…

“Hey all just got back from Melbs Monday night from a little weekend trip to hang out and finish off a web edit me and Cooper have been working on and yeah it all went sweet, had a blast can’t wait to see what the edit turns out like. Peace.”

I picked up Liam Zingbergs from the airport here in Brisbane this arvo & he is here for a week to film with Salad for the next 2020 BMX Magazine DVD. Updates here as they happen.

Brock has been in Melbourne the past couple of days, so far it’s been pretty productive when it’s not raining. We are filming for an up and coming Colony web video which should be solid as a rock!

Zac sent through a quick update for us…

“Hey y’all. So got my new ride last week. Sooo happy with it, probably the most clean cut bike I’ve ever had. I’ve been loving it!!! The weathers been shit here, it hits 4pm and just starts raining everyday! Other then that, been riding Woden heaps found some new stuff to play with, just can’t get enough of that place! Anyway’s till next time. Catchya”
