Paddy Gross “One Whip Wonder” Video

Today we’ve got a new video from Paddy Gross! We’ll let Paddy give you the scoop…

The Idea was to come up with as many of my own tailwhip combos in the last 3 months without trying to copy anyone else’s. This has all been self filmed and some of the combos took me months to complete.

My inspiration comes from legendary BMX legends such as Dave Freimuth, Dave Osato, Clint Millar, Tobias Wicke, Nick Harkins, Tom Haugen, Jason Enns, Axel Reichertz, Dave Mirra to only name a few and I took individual tricks from either and put them together. Freestyle!

Thank you for watching and supporting the little leftover of the frontbrake BMX world. Thanks my dear Colony BMX family for having me and all the incredible support! I appreciate you all….Paddy

Paddy Gross North Brigade Session

Paddy Gross recently headed back over to Germany for a good friends 40th birthday jam. Marcel Gans happened to be there so he grabbed his camera and documented Paddy absolutely destroy the transition for an hour!

Paddy & Bobbie @ Baco

Both Bob and Paddy have some technical clips in the last half of this video that BMX Union just put out. The Baco jams always look pretty crazy. Congrats to Paddy for winning the #frontbrakebrethren jam

Paddy Gross update

Hello everyone,

Hope this finds you happy and healthy. For the ones that follow me on Instagram you know I am doing my thing as usual, mostly working, hanging with my girl and #frontbrakebrethren. I recently took a trip back to the lovely Midwest of the USA and met up with a few amazing people to ride with including teammate, friend and good human Bobbie Altiser. I flew into Chicago and we drove 4 hours up to St. Louis, Missouri to hit up the Ramp Riders Indoor park. This park definitely leaves all options open when it comes to lines and all sorts of ramps. Most of us got stuck with riding the street spine and everyone had a blast. Towards the end of Saturday we all enjoyed the Bobbie Altiser and TJ Henderson backwards spine session and I still don’t understand what actually happed. Amazing! On sunday we took a trip to the northern side of St.Louis to ride at the Skate Church! WOW! This is has been by far one of the most unique places I’ve ever ridden and also one of the best Miniramps. The church was build in 1865 and one of the first German Catholic Churches west of the mississippi. Truly amazing to be able to ride my bike at a place like this. Just think about all the thoughts that has been brought to this place in the last 151 years… Thanks again to @sk8liborius for letting us having a memorable day at your church. Give him a follow and make a donation if you like. This place is one of a kind and a lot of hard work to keep it as amazing as it is.

We ended up with a amazing all day session including @mattloughbmx @davidraybuseman @danxhylton @billy_woodfin @hicknarkinsbmx @twobraketony @murderbike and myself.

Everyone was seriously shredding this place to pieces and thanks to Tony Loconte (@twobraketony) and Jarrod Glasgow (@murderbike) we have Photos/Edit from this amazing weekend.Check the clip below to see for yourself and check the photos on Instagram.

Thanks to everyone I mentioned in here for making me feel so welcome, let me crash at their places and showing me around St. Louis and Chicago. This has been my second time in the Midwest ever since the Baco jam 2015 and it gets better everytime I go. You guys are truly good hearted humans and friends. You made this trip unforgettable thank you! Love you all and see you again soon!

Hope you enjoyed the read, the photos and the clip. Thanks to Colony for keeping my ride dialed and Etnies for keeping my feet comfy.

Do your thing!

Paddy Gross update

Hello everyone! Hope you’ll are doing good and having fun riding your bikes. The winter in this part of the USA is moving closer and luckily I have “the Lumberyard” Indoor bike park to ride. Next to work, my misses and our 3 cats, I am spending quite a fair amount of time on my bike and keep working on my to do list. This list is pretty much a mix of tricks from back in the 90’s and Ideas I’ve had in the 90’s and about 15 years later I now try to finish unfinished business. It’s fun to create new combos and tricks and it feels a bit funny knowing the guy next to me is working on flair bar to whip while I am trying to 540 nosepick on a subbox. I am doing my own thing here and don’t really have anyone riding frontbrakes but the people I ride with are having a good time watching how BMX looked like 20 years ago haha. Since Clint & Keith hooked me up with the “Prody” frame I also got back into riding flatland again which definitely helps me with my balance and it’s fun on top of it. The frame is amazing and just looking at my bike makes so excited to ride everytime! I feel honored and lucky to ride one of those and this is the bike now that fulfills all my wants and needs. Well this is it for now and I’ll stop by again. I am not too much of a social media person but I still want to thank you for all the “likes” and kind words for what I am doing. I really appreciate it! All the best and have fun riding your bike!

Thanks to Eddie Braks for the photos.

Paddy Gross interview

Over on BMX Union Paddy has a in-depth and great interview about BMX and life in general. Paddy has had a pretty action packed life so it’s well worth the read. Check it here.

Baco-A-Go-Go

As we posted the other day, Paddy and Bobbie headed to the Baco jam that happened recently. Both the guys have some great moves on the mini ramp section towards the end of the video, check it out…

Paddy Gross @ Baco

Hey everyone,

Bobbie, his lovely girlfriend Brittany and myself took a trip to Wisconsin last weekend for the Baco-A-Go-Go jam. One reason for me was to spend time with Bobbie since we live quite a distance apart from each other and if you know Bobbie then you know the more you’re around this guy around the better. The other reason was hopefully to meet one of my biggest riding influence Dave Freimuth who was stoked that we came out, and most of the Baco Crew. We also had the chance to hang out with BMX media pioneer Chris Rye who paved the road starting Props Video Magazine back in the 1993. After 6 hours driving from Missouri through Iowa up to Wisconsin Bobbie and me decided to give the Miniramp a quick hello session friday night and continued riding the Mini all saturday long until the #frontbrakebrethren jam.

Most of saturday was for the Park contest and one thing I noticed was that the beginner classes were split in age groups which i haven’t seen in a while and it was awesome to see that everyone had a fair chance to ride. Pro Park was amazing to watch and they sure killed it with all the things you can imagine can be done in a flip or a whip. Pretty impressive for sure! Last Comp was the one for all the riders who mostly use their left fingers. Since people with riding frontbrakes are still rare we’ve had a cool little group of around 12 people such as Tj Henderson, Patrick Kelly, Nick Harkins, Travis McCray, Dan Sieg, Lucas Hastay, Bobbie, myself and a few others. Since the jam was held towards the evening it started getting cold but many good actions by everyone created heat on the deck.

Tj Henderson took the trophy at the end after pulling his ridiculous nosepick combo “nosepick to fakie to backwards nosepick to fakie over the spine to fakie nosepick whip”! You’ll have to watch the upcoming video to get it and he well deserved the win after trying this for quite a while in the cold and committing to it. Bobbie and me also did our thing and it should be good video with a lot of unique things in it including the After Party that got a little out of hand and had a lot of fire involved. At the end we had the best time with a lot of good people, BMX legends, new friends, old friends, beers, a lot of fire and riding our bikes. Thanks to the Baco Crew for the fun weekend that was just about BMX. Good times and we’ll be back next year! Cheers, Paddy & Bobbie.

Paddy Gross update

Hey everyone,
I hope you all are doing good and life is treating you well! It’s been a little while since my last check in and I thought I’d stop by real quick and say hello. I am still residing in Portland, Oregon and not too many things have changed. I stopped working for the Outer Rim bike shop because my other job became too busy to keep both. I am still going in to help here and there but I am not involved as much anymore. The shop became another focal point for BMX and Colony in Portland and I am happy for them.

Since my shift changed from 6am-2:30pm I found a lot more time to ride and work off my ‘to do’ list. I am loving the frontbrakebrethren and keep watching my BMX videos from ages ago. I will be going to the Baco Jam in Wisconsin in October together with Bobbie Altiser and this is something I’ve always wanted to do. I am also hoping to finally meet Dave Freimuth to at least say thanks after all these years for getting me into technical riding. I remember seing Axel Reichertz doing a nosepick on out self build quarterpipe and being blown away. A little bit after Axel showed me Baco 5 and that was my moment of truth and I knew that this was the type of riding I wanted to pursue after seing Dave Freimuth doing the most ridicolous tech tricks.

I am also going to build up my new prody frame which is at a powder coating place as we speak. I feel honored and can’t wait! Other than working and riding I spend time with my lovely wife and our three cats. We will be moving soon a little bit away from the city which I am very happy about because it’s just too much noise and I’d like to breathe a bit more actual air than exhaust gases. Last but not least I am working on a new edit. That’s it for now! Thank you for reading, stay healthy, have fun riding your bike and enjoy yourselves. Much love to you all! Cheers, -Paddy

Paddy Gross video

Paddy had been talking about filming a front brake video for sometime now, probably ever since he put front brakes back on a year or so ago. I am so stoked on the creative moves throughout this video of Paddy riding his local The Lumberyard. There are also a few guest clips from some of Paddy’s friends who all hold their own. Thanks to Levi Weert and Spencer Wolfe for filming/editing this.

Paddy Gross update

Hello everyone, next to a 6 day working week I find proper time to ride my bike. dunno how but I do haha. I also started filming for a new edit 2 months ago which will be all about the front brakes as after 15 years I decided to put them back on and it feels like being back in the 90’s. I am loving it so much and all I do is watch my old Baco Vision, Props etc. VHS tapes I’ve kept all these years and get my Inspiration from riders such as Dave Freimuth, Jason Enns, Dave Osato and of course the Boss himself Clint Millar. We wanna make the Video look as old as the tricks are so we’re not filming with high tech HD and what not but on purpose, just a few more weeks and we should start putting it together. Well that was it for now, hope all of you are happy and healthy, enjoy yourselves and have fun riding your bikes. until next time.

Paddy Gross update

Paddy shot through an update of the latest happenings over in portland…

G’Day everyone, hope you all are happy and healthy. Here’s a little something of what I’ve been up to in the last few months. I’ve recovered very well from my broken ankle and got the official OK from my surgeon to go ahead and do my thing with riding. I’ve had a good chance to do that on our Colony trip to Woodward and thanks again for having me there. So now back in Portland I am working in a bike shop, running the BMX section. I’ll be going to California in a few days to visit Clint, check out the new Colony distro and have a riding sesh with the guys down there. That’s pretty much it, thanks for reading, enjoy yourselves and stay healthy. Much love, Paddy.
