Mick gives us the latest on his trip….

Hey, it’s Mick again! Kimberly and I just came out of the rainforest in Paluma Range National Park. They call it “the village in the clouds,” and it sure was. We drove up a winding road forever to get to the top of the jungle. We hiked along the creek bed at Crystal Creek jumping over boulders and loosing ourselves further into the jungle. I went off on my own at one point and nearly stepped on a 6m long python! This thing could’ve swallowed a cow whole. I’ve never ran down a waterfall so quick in my life. Kimberly says it’s the first time she’s ever heard me scream. The river itself was the most amazing swimming whole I’ve swam in. The water was freezing, but beautiful. You came out feeling so refreshed. I swam around the rapids for ages. Then we hiked through some pretty dense jungle until we came across a set of some even bigger waterfalls. I went off on my own and followed the rocks nearly to the bottom of the mountain. That was a real adventure. I nearly died a couple of times crossing falling trees and leaping across the stones. I felt like a little kid again getting myself into trouble and finding my way out. It was a crazy adventure to say the least..

Shintaro checks in.

Shintaro shot us an email about how he just recently got back from the Double Control flatland comp over in Bangkok, Thailand. He said he had a blast. Shintaro is one well travelled man.

Stas Shatilo web video.

Stas Shatilo rides for Raen Bmx, a retail store and our distributor over in Russia who also help him out with some Colony product, here is a web video of him killing a local park.

Clint Millar – Ten Clips

When I was up in Brisbane a little while back I went down to Helensvale park with Clint and filmed his first 10 clips edit, stoked on how it came out. He has only pulled the last trick once before in his life I believe, check it out.

Mick Bayzand update.

Bayzand has been all over the place up north of late, here is the latest from Teddy.

Hey guys, it’s Mick again to let you know some more of what I’ve been up to. Kimberly and I sailed on a catamaran for a few days around the Whit Sundays. It was amazing. We woke up in the early hours of the morning to snorkel the reef. Underneath the surface the coral and fish were mind blowing. I’ve never seen so many crazy colours altogether. One day we even saw a whale breach the water, it was right out of a documentary. We got to go to White Haven beach. It’s by far the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. We walked up to the lookout where you could see the water and sand swirl together down below like a painting. It was unreal. By night we got to drink with the others on board and the crew. Thanks to the Skipper and crew for making it such a great trip, something we’ll remember for a very long time.

From the vault.

I randomly thought about this photo today that I shot of Ryan a couple of years back now at a roadtrip we were on where we stopped in at Cam Whites jumps.

Oskars Zajarskis video.

Flow rider from Latvia Oskars Zajarskis sent through a quick edit form his local park, some good moves in this and the park looks real fun.

Paddy Gross update.

Flow rider from Germany and good friend Paddy Gross sent in a bit of an update for everyone…

Hope all is good and everyone is having fun doing what you like to do. I am doing fine, still missing the good times I’ve had with all of ya. I am riding heaps of demos this month and right now I am writing this update from europeans biggest games convention tradeshow kinda thing where we’re playing our own game on our bikes. I am also having heaps of fun with my new bike and “The Living” frame works real good, loving it!

Besides riding demos, doing workshops and working in a porn store I am filming heaps for my next web edit which is going to with one of my best mates and a little less tailwhips haha, I love to do that trick but too much is too much. We’re going to make this edit also look like a little message for the kids outhere, just to give them an idea to do their own thing and don’t have to follow any trends to be a part of the BMX community, we’ve been filming for the last 2 months for it and it’s almost done. there’s some photos attached taken by a friend who loves to take photos, hope you’ll like them. ok that’s it for now, more soon! take care all of ya and stay happy’n healthy. cheers-Paddy.

Recent Oneclips.

Marnold, Chris Courtenay and Brock Olive have all recently had Oneclips in the Focalpoint clip a day series.

Mick Bayzand – Ten Clips

We met up with Mick at his local park Prahran to film his ten clips, the park is just on the out skirts of Melbourne city and definitely has its own unique feel, interesting characters around all day long but as kinda sketchy it may seem from first glance, everyone was real cool and down with what we were doing.

Mick had previously filmed an edit at the same park a month or so before hand so he wanted to make sure he got some new lines dialed in and some different moves to what you may expect to see from him.

Colony booth.

It was a hectic weekend just been with the tradeshow in-between both King of the Jibs and Slay the Rails. Here are a few images from the booth showing some of the 2012 colours and products. Available in October.

Daniele De Piccoli & crew.

Our flow rider from Italy Daniele De Piccoli along with his crew entered the Nike Chosen video comp and did quite well. They ride some cool spots in this.

Slay the Rails 2.

Last night was an amazing night at Slay the Rails 2. Marnold ended up coming 2nd which was awesome. Here you have him doing a 360 over the rail, Liam with an oppo hanger and Zac with an over ice. The web video from this is going to be ridiculous as alot of hammers went down.

Melbourne trip.

Some of the team are in Melbourne at the moment, here are a couple shots from a good day out yesterday. Brock Olive and Liam Zingbergs.

Jibs was awesome!

Massive thanks to all the riders, people who came and watched, the judges and Dre for doing a good job with the Mic, it was a really fun day.

Congrats to Daniel Johnson for winning, Marnold came second with Jack Elkins in third. Raphael Jeroma-Williams took out best trick with a luc-e up rail to duster down the other side of the wedge rail.

Jibs/Tradeshow tomorrow.

See you at the jibs comp which starts at 2pm, the tradeshow opens at 10am so make sure you come past the Colony booth.

King of the Jibs 2 preview!

Yesterday we set everything up for the Jibs on Saturday, we have alot more room this year so it’s going to work out good!

Mick Bayzand trip update

Mick continues to run wild in the bushlands of northern Queensland…

Hey all! It’s Mick here letting you guys know what other adventures I’ve been up to. Kimberly and I drove into Byfield National State Forest just outside of Rockhampton. We lived in the rainforest fending for ourselves for a good while. I have to say, this was probably one of the best parts of the trip so far. We hiked along the rocks of the creek and got ourselves lost in the forest. I got to free climb some pretty cool rock faces before leading us through our own trails. We spent our nights by the campfire drinking goon, and I carved myself a couple tools for survival. We really got in touch with the more primitive sides of life. We chilled with a couple of crazy looking frogs, a bilby, and some other kind of marsupial my girlfriend thinks is said to be extinct. It was pretty amazing a part from having to shower out of breakfast bowls, but that’s all part of living in a rainforest. Stay tuned for our next adventures. Peace.

Jibs interivew.

One of the main newspapers here in Melbourne The Age, hit us up with a bit of an interview about King of the Jibs. This was published in the Sunday paper and I think they did alright with it, usually articles written by people who have no idea what BMX is about end up all tacky but this seems alright. Have a read and see you on Saturday…

Marnold

I am back in Melbourne at the moment and this weekend I hooked up with Marnold and CO, it was possibly the most productive weekend riding we have ever had here. Marnold killed everything we rode.

Thanks to DJ for the photos.

Peta Shepherd update.

Peta sent us in an update about her recovery from the crash she had a few months back…

I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got my teeth fixed from when I crashed back in February filming for The Colony DVD. I would also like to say a big thanks to Clint for helping me out with the fundraiser tee and to anyone who bought one of the tee’s I appreciate it so much!

Marnold – Ten Clips

Next in the 10 Clips series of edits is Marnold. We had never lit up a spot in a school before so we didn’t know how it was going to go down. We waited until about 7pm rolled in there with all the gear set-up and it was game on. There was a cleaner floating about on the grounds but he didn’t seem fazed at all by what we were doing so maybe we got lucky that night.

Tom Stretton bike check.

Tom has a bike check and interview over on the The Union, check it out here.

Brock Olive.

We filmed Brock’s ten clips on Friday, it won’t be up for a little while but it will be worth the wait, trust me!

Chris Courtenay update.

Chris just recently started riding after being off the bike for a couple of months with a broken wrist. He is heading over to the USA next month to hit up a bunch of places. This photo is from an evening ride we had at Woodridge park in Brisbane the other night.

Marnold.

Marnold has been riding alot of late, filming for a few projects. With the weather being very average in Melbourne at this time of year and no daylight savings we have been lighting up a bunch of spots whenever it’s dry.

Advert: Liam Zingbergs

Liam scored the double page advert in the latest 2020 with this long nose manual. Liam also has an interview in the new issue so make sure you pick it up. The clip of this nose manual can also be seen in our DVD if you haven’t got yourself a copy yet.

Mick Bayzand checks in.

Mick is currently travelling around Australia, I will let him tell you the story though…

“Hey! This is Mick here checking in. After the DVD launch in Brissy I packed up my life in Melbourne and hit the road with my girlfriend to show her around Australia before she heads home to Canada. We rented a van to sleep, cook, and do pretty much everything in. First stop was Byron Bay where we explored the beautiful beach and hiked up to the lighthouse. I abandoned my shoes and became a barefoot bushman. We had mad adventures exploring the bush. We then kept moving until we arrived at the Glass House Mountains and spent the day at Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo. Turned out to be Bindi’s 13th birthday, so we got to see some crazy croc shows with the whole family. I even got a piece of her birthday cake! Next stop we came to Noosa where we explored the mangroves and the river by kayak. We spent a few hours on a deserted island where we hung out and I had a stab at spear fishing. We got out of there quickly after our car was broken into and made our way to Rainbow Beach. Now we’re here for a few days exploring the sand dunes and hiking through the National Parks. This is such a chill place I almost don’t want to leave. The plan is to head up the East Coast until Cairns. I’ll keep you posted with anymore wild adventures we come across. Peace.”
