But hurry as entries close this Friday the 11th of December.
Tom Stretton joined the team a few months back now & is one of my favourite people to watch ride. He does the most tech stuff & makes it looks way too easy. Tom is being graced with his first advert for Colony in the pages of DIG magazine, check it out below. While on the subject of Tom, click here now to check out Tom’s new team page over on the Ride On BMX shop site.
The guys over at For The Riders put this custom complete bike together for a happy customer. Fully decked out on almost everything Colony, including our new LFH grips which are available now.
…or so he does in Wonthaggi in Victoria at least. Check out the cool mural the guys at Crossover Cycles did on their shop front, pretty stoked. Ho ho ho !!
I was so stoked to have met Brian Blyther in Vegas earlier this year. He is one of my earliest favourite riders ever. It was so cool to find him as a cool person as well to boot. So much so, that I told him I would honoured if he were to ride some Colony parts. With the help of Joel Gurga from Tip Plus, we hooked Brian up with a huge Colony package. He is now rocking almost every Colony part we make, stoked.
Midland Cycles, in Western Australia, carry our full range of products & do it the right way as well. Nice clean displays, good customer service & great product knowledge are just the start. If you’re after something Colony in the Midland’s area of Perth, then these are the guys you need to go see.
The guys over at Crossley Cycles have put together a custom Colony & you can can check it out by clicking here now. Crossley Cycles are one of the original & longest supporters of Colony. Thanks Richard & Mick !!
Paddy Gross has scored the cover of a photography book coming out called, The BMX Book. The book’s author is Ralf Maier from Koln, Germany. I am really looking forward to seeing this when it’s out. There is a release party set for December 4th in Koln & you can find out more by clicking here now.
Congrats on getting the cover Paddy !!
Paddy has also been keeping very busy with demo’s in Belgium amongst other places across europe. Paddy is one busy man !! Paddy also just put together a brand new Gnarkill frame with all new parts. Photos on that soon.
Ryan is over in Cali right now visiting Vans & getting some riding in while taking advantage of the sunshine over there. Check the pics below from a recent session with Colin Mackay (bottom right). Word.
Kenny Raggett recently went to Japan with his wife Julie & were lucky enough to meet up with our long time friend Shoe-G. Good times were had by all from what Kenny said & had nothing good things to say about their Japanese experience. I gotta get myself back over there again sometime soon, it’s been way too long.
Shoe-G wrote this little story to share with everyone…
I first met Kenny back in 2000 in Greenville, NC. We stayed at Colin Mackay and Bruce Chrisman’s place & rode everyday and had tons of fun together for 2 weeks.
After that we didn’t meet for 9 years but we kept riding and saw coverage of each other in the BMX scene. Our memories and friendship has been tight ever since.
This time Kenny came to my house with his wife. I now have a wife and a daughter.
It was super wonderful to see him again. We are still tight after 9 years without seeing each other. Because we have a strong passion for BMX and we both share it. We are tight anytime we meet even after 10 or 20 years. BMX is more than a little bicycle, it can provide something so wonderful.
This photo of Shoe-G doing a flair is what he described as a HDR image (High Dynamic Range) Very interesting.
Richard at Crossley Cycles was the first ever bike shop I went to when I got into this thing we call BMX. That was way back in 1988 & I have shopped there ever since.
Richard has helped me out beyond comprehension & I could never really pay him back for his support over the years. Thanks Richard !! It’s good to see him continuing this support towards riders like Alex Hiam these days.
Richard has always done things a little old school, so Cooper Brownlee (from Focalpoint BMX) & us here at Colony got together to get him a simple website going. Crossley’s are now in the 21st century, hooray !! Click here now to check out the website from one of the original BMX shops in Australia.
Richo & Ryan decided to show their alliance to Beenleigh on a more permanent basis with some new tatts… check them out below. Ink done by Brian Lee as always. Brian also penned the girl used on Ryan’s Official forks & bars.
Attila Godi recently put together a new bike & sent in these pics for us all to check out. Gnarkill frame decked out with all our 2010 parts. The White & Tangerine combo looking the goods for sure. Thanks go out to Harlee Shop for helping him out & repping Colony for us in Hungary.
Earlier this year a store opened up in Perth called, Six Four Skate & Ride. Out of all the BMX brands out there they chose Colony as their one & only brand to carry, something we’re rather stoked on. Their store has a really neat boutique look about it which we’re really into. If you’re in the area make sure you drop in & check out our entire 2010 ranges including our complete bikes.
Focalpoint have done a cool desktop calendar for the month of November featuring our very own Marnold. Click here now to download various sizes to suit your screen.
A long time friend of mine, Scott Greentree has been running a cool website for a while now & you all should check it out. Natural BMX explains it all by it’s title. Click here now to check it out.
Check out this mini interview with Nick Richardson, enjoy. Thanks to Guettler for the pics.
1. You have been in America for around 2 months now, you still having fun?
Hell yeah, its so much fun here, I already can’t wait to come back!
2. 5 favourites you have seen in America.
1. Sorority houses
2. Zaxby’s
3. Campus street
4. Cheap beer
5. 5th street distillery
3. What are some of the places you have been riding here?
I usually go ride street at the campus or Guettler’s back yard, that shit is so fun!
4. What was the idea behind the ‘Day in the Life’ teaser?
haha, Guettler & I were sitting around the newly made fire pit one arvo, drinking a beer or ten, and he was like “yo, we should film a funny day in the life of you” I was like “fo sure son” then we just started coming up with some ideas and it just went from there I guess!
5. Are you filming for anything else right now?
Yeah gotta start filming a real day in the life so everyone doesn’t think I’m training for the Tour de France. Other then that, I have just been getting clips here and there for Colony!
6. Are you looking forward to going home the Australia?
Yeah I guess, can’t wait to go to the beach, ride my local trails and see my friends, but I kinda wish I stayed longer too!
7. Talk about some of the night life or what you have been doing off the bike?
Well the nightlife is pretty rad except everything shuts around 2am, but its still fun. I got out around 5 nights a week, haha. Other then that I try and help Valvoline build the back yard ramps, that kid is out of control I’d let him build my house for sure!
This Saturday night at the usual venue is another DVD premiere put on by Stu Munro. Any excuse to go have a few drinks & have a good time is fine by me. See you there !!
Some low life stole a kids brand new bike outside of Backbone yesterday. Click here for the full low down. Stealing someone’s bike is just not on, period. Let’s hope they get caught soon enough.
