Ryan Guettler shot through an update on what he has been up too of late…

I’ve been very busy the last 2 months and have a huge month ahead of me. Over August I’ve done the Vans HB bowl comp, Colony Woodward week, Mongoose Woodward east comp and now just finished the Vans ECSC comp. I’ve been progressing and getting better results as the events have been going on. The Mongoose comp was really cool & we got good results in dirt with our team ending up getting 2nd place.

Then this past weekend I went to Norfolk VB to compete in the Vans ECSC comp and came home with 3rd place. Really happy how the comp went and against that field of riders I can’t complain.
Now I have a week off so I’ll be working on new tricks and filming a lot for upcoming videos. Then of to Mexico City for a big comp Sept 6th.

Cooper jetted over to LA two weeks ago to film with some of the guys and to shoot the Woodward Week. He has been spending the past couple of days riding with the LAX guys trying to finish off his next Colony video which from what he tells me, he has almost enough footage for.

As you may know Cooper also runs Focalpointbmx and prints our Colony t-shirts. Well he recently released a limited FP tee that are all one of a kinds because of the print process he uses to make them. I am pleased to announce to the BMX world some big news regarding us here at Colony BMX.

Starting from the 2014 season, so meaning from approx. September 1st this year, we will be switching up our distribution outlet in the USA. Sidewall will no longer be our distributor.

We will be doing something not yet done by any BMX brand in the industry & we will be opening our own distribution company in another country. Based in California, we will be handling exclusive distribution duties to all US based dealers. We are very excited about this progressive move forward.

What will this mean for the average rider out there? It will mean finally you will be able to get Colony products in all good US dealers country wide. No longer will our products be very hard to locate & purchase. It also means our products will be more affordable then ever before, something all riders will appreciate.

What will this mean for the US dealers out there? It will mean you will have good continuous supply, great service & strong back up support for all our products. Something we feel very strongly about.

We have none other than, legend Keith Treanor coming into the family to run things for us in the USA. Keith’s managing role will be handling all the duties associated with this new venture. To have someone like Keith involved is an amazing honour & we are really excited about it all.

Being that we will have an office in California, will also mean marketing wise you will see a much stronger presence of Colony out there. Finally we will be able to support our riders in the USA how we want too.

Full details will be released in the weeks ahead but expect to see a lot more of Colony in the months & years ahead in the USA. Thing’s are about to get real.

Vale BMX on the Gold Coast have recently undergone a bunch of changes. New management & a new location are amongst the changes at hand. They are now housed inside the GC Compound indoor park in Upper Coomera. Out in late September in Canada, the USA & Australia, with other countries to follow in November, are our brand new Wasp Hubs. These have been in development for over a year now & we are really happy with the result.

These are designed to be extra fast rolling along with a louder cassette mechanism. Chris Courtenay & others have been testing them & are in love. Only available in female axle these are still great for peg use.

Black & Rainbow Anodised are your colour choices & only RHD at this stage. LHD drive to come at a later date. More details closer to the release date.

Chris Courtenay just placed 3rd in pro park at the Worlds in Cologne, Germany. Congrats mate !! Chris has been killing it of late & it’s great to see him do so well over there. He will soon jet back to Australia for a comp organised down in Melbourne. Then it’s off to the USA for the Colony week at Woodward West for the 2013 shootout video contest. Good times ahead !!

Our 2014 range of complete bikes arrive into Australian stores this week ahead. In this preliminary drop, the models available will be the Premise, Inception & the ever popular Endeavour.

For 2014 the Premise will come in two stock colours all season being Bloody Black with Red & Matte Black with Purple. There will also be 3 limited edition colours through out the year with the first one being Mint with Black.

The Inception will come in one colour all season, Dark Red with Black.

The Endeavour will also have two stock colours all year with Matte Black with Red & Purple Storm with Polished being the offerings. There will also be 3 limited edition colours throughout the season with a very special GOLD ED being the first offering.

Ryan Guettler’s The Living will be out in September in one colour all season, Matte Black with Chrome.

Check them out at selected dealers for this initial pre-launch this week with all dealers Australia wide having them come August with our next shipment. The rest of the world will need to wait till September to get these bikes though, but well worth the wait.

Yesterday was another good day. We started out in Maryborough & hit up some local street spots which turned out well. Then made the drive to Woodgate but stopped off in Childers on the way to hit some rails.

I was really wanting to show the guys Woodgate though, one for the awesome ramp & also to see the kangaroos that are always hanging right by the ramp. The local wildlife did not let us down & both Jourdan & Brandon got to see their first ever kangaroos. Some good riding went down from Chris as well with some solid stuff going down in the last specks of day light.

Today we are in Gladstone & will be at M1 Cycles at 11am then the park in town at midday. Come & say g’day !!

Remember Nick Richardson? You might remember him from such signature Colony products as, the Bloody Oath Frame & Bars or the Gnar Kill Frame. Affectionately known as Richo, Nick has departed the BMX scene in recent years but still holds a place in our hearts & thoughts. I for one am stoked to see him doing what he is these days.

G’day guys,

It’s been a few years since anyone has seen or heard about me in the BMX industry, What have I been doing? Well… haha

Ever since I stopped riding BMX full time, I started studying Graphic Design. It was something that just really appealed to me. I liked the fact that it allows you to create something from nothing. Ever since I was younger I always wanted to start my own brand and by doing this course it gave me the skills to do so.
That brings me to fishing…

Fishing has always been a part of my life even when I rode BMX, but as I got into it more I discovered the more technical side to it. I got addicted to it and it pretty much became my life, everyday I was out on the water discovering new things and places.

So at the end of last year, I decided to start a clothing brand completely dedicated to the fishing industry. I didn’t want to be “just another clothing brand”, I wanted the brand to have meaning! What this brand is about is awareness, I want people to know how their actions affect the marine life above and below the water. For our new range our slogan is “Respect Our Waterways”. I want to push that as much as I can, to make people aware of what they are doing, I want my kids and their kids to be able to fish the same spots we do and catch the same fish!

I decide to name the brand “Tide Apparel” … To me this is more then just a clothing brand, it’s a movement.
