Colony in Malibu?

Cruised around Cali today & checked out the famous beaches of Malibu. Spotted the new offices for Colony perhaps, not really. It seemed almost everywhere we looked in Malibu, something was referred to as Colony something or other, pretty cool.

Simon O’Brien update…

Simon O’Brien sent through some news about a recent exhibition he was apart of….

“Not long ago I was part of an art exibition in Venice, Italy. the topic was spinning. A backwheel spin shot in a grimy location played back in super slow mo. The exibition was then recently turned into a hard cover book. It’s always fun to be part of one of Sydneys most young, contemporary and outstanding visual artists Shaun Gladwell’s projects!”

Don’t forget to check out Simons latest DVD Dejavu.

At the X’ies mannn…

I’m over here at the X Games in LA right now & the comp starts tomorrow. Just chilled out today watching park, street & vert practise. Should be good to see what goes down in each event over the coming days. It’s great to see a lot of faces I haven’t seen in a while as well. I snapped this photo of Tim during vert practise today on my digi cam. Expect a few more photos to come over the days ahead.  Ryan has park eliminators tomorrow morning even with his bad shoulder but should be OK. Fingers crossed.

Ryan G update…

I called Ryan this morning cause I heard through the grape vine that he crashed & hurt himself at the recent Dew Tour. He has a 3rd degree seperated shoulder right now but says he will be good for X Games this weekend coming. I am actually heading over to LA to check out the games, will be good to see what it’s all about. Should be a fun week ahead.

Straight jibbin’…

… Is a phrase Mick Bayzand coined a fair bit on our recent France trip. This epic rail here is anything but jibbin’. This is one the most craziest rails I have seen Mick do & it’s not even the biggest he has done. Mick is reported to be the first & only one to get this beast done. Hell yeah.

Oh by the way… this is the cover of the new Focalpoint magazine… due out any day now. Mick scores his first FP cover & maybe it’s his 2nd or 3rd ever photo in FP period. Be on the look out for coverage on our recent Euro trip too. Word.

From the minds of Evan & Mitch it has been in the works for quite some time now & they had their grand opening last Friday. I recently dropped in to check it out & it’s worth dropping by for sure. Lux will carry our entire range of parts & bikes in stock. If you’re in the area go check them out. You can click here for their website with all the info you will need.

Changes in the UK…

There have been some recent positive changes in the way Colony will be distributed in the UK. Alan Woods from Alans BMX, has started his own distribution house called, Tabletop Distribution. Colony will be one of it’s first brands & what this means is that BMX shops all over the UK will now be able to stock Colony much easier now. Interested BMX shops out there can contact Tabletop by emailing sales@tabletopdistribution.com with any of your enquires. Of course riders can still buy their Colony products from Alans or you will also now have many more stores to choose from as well.

We are proud to announce that Sidewall Distro are now our exclusive USA distributor for our 2011 & beyond line of complete bikes. They will take delivery of their first shipment late October this year. They will have our 2011 model Endeavour, Descendent, Sweet Tooth Pro, Teddy Pro, Rebirth Pro & Lowcut Pro bikes available. Initial stocks will be limited so I would suggest that any US dealers wishing to stock them place your pre-book with Sidewall sooner rather than later. Click here now for their contact details.

Tip Plus will continue to be our exclusive distributor for all our frames, parts & accessories as per usual. So please contact them for any of these needs for the USA. Click here for their contact details.

Vans HQ visit…

Yesterday we visited the Vans headquarters here in California & met up with none other than the Vans TM, Jerry Badders. He gave us the grand tour of the offices there & Alex was blown away by the sheer size of the place. So much cool stuff to see too. Jerry was also nice enough to take us shopping at a nearby Vans store. He hooked us up big time & you can expect to see Alex decked out in some fine Vans kicks & fresh new clothes.

A huge thanks must go out to Jerry & Vans, thanks heaps mate, it is appreciated.

USA update…

Today we had an awesome session on Ryan’s new backyard mini ramp. It was crazy hot but good times for sure. After that we went swimming in a campus pool to cool off & then hit up the Unit for a night session. We were pretty much spent from the get go but still was fun to have a roll there. Tomorrow we head off on the drive up to Woodward & will be there till Saturday, looking forward to that.

Team changes…

I have some rather big team changes to announce which are never easy things to do.

As of today, Liam Fahy-Hampton & Nick Richardson are no longer on the Colony pro team.

It was a very difficult decision to make but one that had to be done. Everything is still cool between us all though. Both Liam & Nick will still be getting flowed Colony product for as long as they need or want it.

I would like to publicly thank them both for everything over the past years. Thanks for being a part of the journey with Colony & I wish you both the best in your future endeavours. At this point in time, both guys have no plans or desires for ride for any new bike companies.

In the next few days we will release some farewell edits from footage gathered recently from both guys.

Thanks again for everything guys – Clint Millar.

Trip Round up #2

Some more photos from our trip across France and Barcelona, thanks again to Unleaded for helping us out across France.

First up we have Mick Bayzand hanging a rail in France, then we have Liam Fahy-Hampton, Mick Bayzand and Bruno Faucon chilling before the comp down in Aurillac and last but not least this was a spot in Marseille that the locals took us to and a school group were stoked on BMX, they had Marnold doing stunts for them.

Trip Round up #1

The trip is coming to an end now, we have a 15 hour flight in the morning then another 8 hours to get home, besides Mick Bazyand who has to wait in singapore for 15 hours until his 2nd flight. Here a few photos I put aside from the trip, I will post up a few more as well.

First up is a photo of me, on the borrowed bike I used for most the trip. Then we have a photo from the centre of Barcelona and last up is a photo of Zac Miner who unfortunately dislocated his knee half way through the trip but he kept positive the whole time.

Our last day in France…

Today we had a relaxing day which started out at a lunch time picnic at the beach in Palavas. I had been there back in 2001 for a FISE contest so it was cool to go back there to chill by the water. After that we headed back into Montpellier to ride a ditch & a little street. This soon turned into a few drinks at the Australia Pub right by the river. It was a good way to spend the last full day in France. We’re now in Marseille for our flight back to Barcelona for one night before the long 36 hour journey home.

I would like to thank Unleaded for all their amazing support during this trip, without you guys it would not have been so amazing. I would also like to thank everyone who showed us around to spots & showed us great hospitality. Much appreciated !!

Sunshine!

We trekked down to Montpellier and although it was terrible weather in Lyon once we got here it was great! We had a great days riding around some local spots, it was good to have a solid days riding after a few days of wet weather. Thanks to all the locals who showed us around.

Lyon, France = wet weather

Since it rained all day here yesterday in Lyon France, we went and rode the indoor park in the evening, everyone seemed to have a good time. This sequence is of Le Goff Guillaume getting his ledge jib on. It may take a little while to load so be patient or perhaps it’s just the slow internet here?

Today we head down to the south of France again hoping for good weather. It’s our second last day here in France before returning home, so would be nice to get a good solid street ride in before the long flight home.

In other news, Mick Bayzand is now the official jib king… or so he claims?
