The Core Series final was on Sunday & was a good day for sure. A good turn out & the riding level was really high with a few first’s done at the park. Decade airs, flip whips, front flips, smith to whips were a few stand outs from the day. So good to watch. Our own Peta Shepherd did well enough to get 7th on the day & 5th overall for the year in expert. Well done Peta !! Alex Hiam also rode well yesterday & took out 3rd place in the pro class. Thanks to Ange for the pics.

I am definately looking forward to riding this setup once we are done! In this photo you can see a cheeky in and out on its side which is pretty fun, the pad on the ground will have something super fun on it at the end of the ledge, should be interesting when its done.
Jonny Devine spent the last month here in Brisbane & enjoyed every single minute of it. He just arrived back into the UK & is already making plans to get back here ASAP. This photo (Jonny is on the right) here was taken minutes before they all decided to ride down Mt. Cootha here doing 80 kmh in the dark !! Crazy. Even though I didn’t get to hang out with Jonny much while he was here, I can say that he fits into the Colony family very well. It’s good to have you aboard mate.

I started work on the two main banks for part of the course, before I built the 2nd bank I gave this one a quick test. Stoked on the pop it gives you!
Marnold recently put together a new ride. This one is a Teddy frame in the silver storm colourway. You can also see on there the new Variant topload stem which will be out early September depending on where you are in the world.
Don’t forget the Core Series final tomorrow at Kuraby. Every BMX competitor gets a free set of Colony grips too, see you there.

We will have a free poster out in September this year & here are the two sides of it. Mick Bayzand & that killer rail in France & a banger double stair set wall ride from Zac Miner in Canberra. On Zac’s page you can see some of the new 2011 colours we will have including our Wasabi colour way.
Expect these posters & our entire 2011 range in store September this year.

… Is a phrase Mick Bayzand coined a fair bit on our recent France trip. This epic rail here is anything but jibbin’. This is one the most craziest rails I have seen Mick do & it’s not even the biggest he has done. Mick is reported to be the first & only one to get this beast done. Hell yeah.
Oh by the way… this is the cover of the new Focalpoint magazine… due out any day now. Mick scores his first FP cover & maybe it’s his 2nd or 3rd ever photo in FP period. Be on the look out for coverage on our recent Euro trip too. Word.

Brisbane has a new BMX shop which opened last week & it’s something a little different for sure. A super clean look with the whole less is more feel. From the minds of Evan & Mitch it has been in the works for quite some time now & they had their grand opening last Friday. I recently dropped in to check it out & it’s worth dropping by for sure. Lux will carry our entire range of parts & bikes in stock. If you’re in the area go check them out. You can click here for their website with all the info you will need.

After getting my bike taken off me in Barcelona a few weeks ago by the Police. Once we got back I was keen to get a new Teddy going, exactly the same setup I had but this time in Candy Red! Stoked!
Today I went sky diving for my 36th birthday. It was amazing !! Below is the video they produced as part of the package. It was such an awesome experience & I would recommend to anyone to go out & do it for sure. Thanks to my family for the awesome gift !!

Matt King sent in some pics of his new ride along with a riding photo. He has been keeping very busy as a father in recent months but still getting out on the bike as much as possible. Matt has been repping Colony for as long as I can remember with the strong support of the Gold Coast’s premiere BMX shop, Helensvale BMX.
Spotted this video from a comp at ‘The Shed’ back in 1996 over on the Crossley Cycles website. Enjoy.

There was a huge turnout for the BMX Day Out in Beenleigh yesterday. So good to see. So many old faces turned up & had many a good story to talk about. Thanks to all that came out & thanks to Ling for organising it all for Leif, our thoughts are with you mate.

I’ve started work on the wedge to wedge setup, this will have a rail running up and down one side, should be fun! All the jibs we are building will be for the jam/comp we are holding at the Ausbike tradeshow on the 21st of August in Melbourne and the 9th/10th of October in Brisbane.
We recently sent our flow rider in Colombia, Ricardo Rodriguez, a new package with a Teddy frame & some other bits & he put together this quick edit showing the bike build & the first session. Check it out.

There have been some recent positive changes in the way Colony will be distributed in the UK. Alan Woods from Alans BMX, has started his own distribution house called, Tabletop Distribution. Colony will be one of it’s first brands & what this means is that BMX shops all over the UK will now be able to stock Colony much easier now. Interested BMX shops out there can contact Tabletop by emailing sales@tabletopdistribution.com with any of your enquires. Of course riders can still buy their Colony products from Alans or you will also now have many more stores to choose from as well.

Spotted this cool little edit of our boy in the USA, Broc Raiford. It was filmed at Woodward East on the new street plaza set up there in 20 mins. Some good stuff in there for sure. Enjoy.

We are proud to announce that Sidewall Distro are now our exclusive USA distributor for our 2011 & beyond line of complete bikes. They will take delivery of their first shipment late October this year. They will have our 2011 model Endeavour, Descendent, Sweet Tooth Pro, Teddy Pro, Rebirth Pro & Lowcut Pro bikes available. Initial stocks will be limited so I would suggest that any US dealers wishing to stock them place your pre-book with Sidewall sooner rather than later. Click here now for their contact details.
Tip Plus will continue to be our exclusive distributor for all our frames, parts & accessories as per usual. So please contact them for any of these needs for the USA. Click here for their contact details.

So I worked more on the jibs today, in the photo below you will see a manual pad which is also high enough as a ledge on the sides, one of the sides will have a flat rail running across it aswell. Then we have the outledge which just needs coping.
More progress reports to come…
Yesterday we visited the Vans headquarters here in California & met up with none other than the Vans TM, Jerry Badders. He gave us the grand tour of the offices there & Alex was blown away by the sheer size of the place. So much cool stuff to see too. Jerry was also nice enough to take us shopping at a nearby Vans store. He hooked us up big time & you can expect to see Alex decked out in some fine Vans kicks & fresh new clothes.
A huge thanks must go out to Jerry & Vans, thanks heaps mate, it is appreciated.

Last week we went out and filmed this edit with Pete Radivo at a private indoor spot that he is fortunate enough to have access to. I was impressed at how easy Pete got this done and he seemed to be really enjoying riding, which is great to see from a guy who has had more knee surgeries then I could probably count on both hands.
Ed note: That was awesome Pete… F-ing stoked !! – Millar.
Don’t forget the BMX Day Out planned for this Sunday at the infamous Beenleigh BMX park. See ya there !!

About six weeks ago we posted about this years Ausbike tradeshow happening in August down in Melbourne and that we were going to hold a street jam/comp on the main day of the event where we invite 20 riders from across Australia to get their jib on!
Well today I started building the things to ride. The course will consist of a bunch of ledges, wedges, banks, rails and what ever else we can come up with to keep the riders psyched! I thought it would be cool to post up some progress photos as I go through the build. Here you can see a couple flat ledges and also an up ledge that I am real excited about, these are basically done besides coping. Plenty more building to go so stay tuned!
As most of you would know Chris Courtenay did his ACL a couple months ago, well I spoke to Chris just before and it seems everything is going well in the recovery. He is off crutches now and should be back on the bike in about four and a half months. I spotted this photo of Chris on facebook (obviously shot before the injury) and had to post it. Shot by Michael Harris at Shoalhaven Heads park in NSW. Dialed!
