Guettler in the finals

Guettler scored himself a spot in the finals at the Dew Tour in Portland with a 7th place finish in the park semis. It’s good to see Ryan back on his game after being out so long due to injuries. Good luck in the finals mate.

Peta Shepherd update.

Peta sent us in an update about her recovery from the crash she had a few months back…

I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got my teeth fixed from when I crashed back in February filming for The Colony DVD. I would also like to say a big thanks to Clint for helping me out with the fundraiser tee and to anyone who bought one of the tee’s I appreciate it so much!

Marnold – Ten Clips

Next in the 10 Clips series of edits is Marnold. We had never lit up a spot in a school before so we didn’t know how it was going to go down. We waited until about 7pm rolled in there with all the gear set-up and it was game on. There was a cleaner floating about on the grounds but he didn’t seem fazed at all by what we were doing so maybe we got lucky that night.

Filmers: Cooper Brownlee (fisheye) Luke Vandenberg (long lens)

Chris Courtenay update.

Chris just recently started riding after being off the bike for a couple of months with a broken wrist. He is heading over to the USA next month to hit up a bunch of places. This photo is from an evening ride we had at Woodridge park in Brisbane the other night.

Product highlight – Much Room Grips

In stores now around Australia are our latest grip, the Much Room. I am really stoked on how these came out. Guys on the team that are running them right now include Alex Hiam, Cooper Brownlee, Chris Courtenay, Marnold & Tom Stretton. So far feedback has been very favourable from everyone. Check them out at your nearest Colony dealer now. For those outside Australia you need to wait till October to get your hands on these, sorry.

Marnold.

Marnold has been riding alot of late, filming for a few projects. With the weather being very average in Melbourne at this time of year and no daylight savings we have been lighting up a bunch of spots whenever it’s dry.

Dealer highlight – The Local Face

Long time friend & Carhartt team manager, Mike Emde has had his own shop called The Local Face for a couple years now. It’s based in Wuppertal, Germany & they stock our full ranges including our new DVD which Mike wrote some really kind words about which you can check here now, if you read German of course. Thanks for the support Mike !!

Alex Hiam – Ten Clips

Next up in our Ten Clips series of video’s is Alex Hiam. One of his favourite parks here in Brisbane is Fairfield, so we hit it up one weekday so it was a bit quieter, which it was but it was crazy windy at times. You can probably tell how windy it was in the background of some of the clips. Alex was keen though so we spent the afternoon filming this. Thanks to the locals for being patient at times.

Filmed and edited by Cooper Brownlee with additional filming by Rhys Yeomans.

More from Mick…

Mick Bayzand sent in a quick email from his backpacking travels around Australia…

We went through Bundaberg today and had to stop at the Bundy Rum Distillery for Millar cause it’s his favourite drink. We wanted to get a shot with the Bear but he was hibernating so we got one with the giant bottle instead. This is what happens kids when you drink too many Bundys! Hope you enjoy Millar… I sure did.

Belco park opening jam…

Backbone BMX have put some work in & organised a jam to celebrate the opening of the new park at Belco down in Canberra. The park looks amazing & I myself cannot wait till I get the chance to check it out. For those who are luckier than me & live closer, get yourself there this Saturday for a fun day of riding & you could even win some prizes for your efforts. There is even a 2011 Rebirth frame amongst many other prizes from us here at Colony up for grabs.
